Japan Foundation/UCSB Graduate Division Research Accelerator Awards, 2020

Thanks to generous funding from Japan Foundation and the UCSB Graduate Division, four Graduate Student Accelerator Awards of $8,000 each are available for Summer 2020. The Awards will support dissertation research in Japanese Studies through either pre-doctoral intensive summer research or advanced intensive language training in Japan. A student’s field is completely open, but the research must lead to new advances in Japanese Studies.
A competitive application includes:
- a plan and rationale for the research activity or intensive language training (max. 500 words)
- a detailed budget
- a short letter from the main advisor that situates the summer project within the larger trajectory towards the PhD.
Please note that the usual rules regarding eligibility to receive fellowship funds apply.
